WIP Wednesday

I didn't forget about my socks, but I tried. LOL
Still working on #1, here it is:
Doesn't look like much, eh? I seriously had anxiety over the heel turning, this being my first sock ever to come this far. The first time I read through the directions, it made ZERO sense to my brain and I had to put it away for awhile. Just a few days ago, I decided to look again and wouldn't you know, I did it! All by myself. Check out this beauty of a heel:
I'm working towards the toe.
So now, I'm feeling sort of accomplished and sort of not. Conflict! ha. Sadly, I didn't finish the Cameron sweater by Easter like I had hoped, but here's how it looks now anyway:
I'm happy with it. And ready for it to be done already.

Thanks for stopping by today :) Happy Wednesday!

t-shirt weather.

what do you think of this weather dev?
finally!
we are playing outside, biking, walking and anything else we can think of doing out there without actually having a yard and our park still being sandbagged in.
aren't my boys cute with their RC airplane?

ohh this face.

Don't you just love it?
Maybe it's just me?
He wants to be just like his mama!

Most adorable chubby cheeks ever.
Also, I knit a hat :) My first cable project and I couldn't put it down, I love it! Here is the pattern - thanks again Ali! I used about 1 and a half skeins of knit picks swish in pebble. First 100% wool I've knit with and it feels super soft!

the blahs

My life seems to have lost its rhythm.
How does that happen?
I have a few weeks worth of laundry to do because ... well just because I've been on what I like to call 'housekeeping strike'. Mostly by choice*, but partly not too. Why is it that I can have a spotless bathroom OR a spotless kitchen but NEVER both? Seriously, one of life's mysteries to me. And if by chance, I ever finally come close to having both, the laundry pile is ginormous. I need a maid, or practice.

So. Nobody come visit me please, because you will not like what you see.

What I'm trying to say is: I'm trying to find a system, but most of what I find isn't all that helpful for us 'working moms' (like I'm actually going to wake up an hour before everybody else and clean...sorry but I'm already short on sleep). Anybody have any suggestions?

sorry for another pointless post, but this just might explain the lack of posts lately too. I'm hoping to play catch-up and get refreshed this long Easter weekend.

*read as: i'd rather play with my little boy. or knit.

high & dry

believe it or not there's a road & bridge under there.
this is about 2 blocks from us.
well. actually low. garden level. did you know that you cannot get flood insurance when you're at garden level. well you can't, i tried last spring. also, we never did have to find out if our homeowners/renters insurance would cover any water damage. good thing. but i still don't know. we stayed dry; there is still waaaay too much water around*, but it is going down in our park and it just barely touched the bottoms of the big sandbags they put up, so yay!

the weather has been shaping up around here. rob got a bike. so we can pedal all over town. i'm excited. also, we are really craving some grilled stuff. haha.

oh. and i almost forgot. we will probably be getting 4-8" of snow tonight/tomorrow. what was that I was saying about nice weather? is it april still or did I miss something?

* news.

thanks for worrying about us!

boring

sorry to all 2 of my readers that it's been a quiet week. not a whole lot to talk about, rob is back to work and Devin is back to daycare. we are busy & tired and that's about all there is for the last week ha. no knitting, no reading, hardly any cooking. mostly just going to bed as early as I can so I can wake up as early as I can (which isn't early enough because I'm late for work every.single.day).

also worrying over all the flood talk is wearing me out! i know I keep saying it, but being at garden level so close is really scary. last night Rob's employer/buddy went to get his work trailer out of storage and couldn't because there was water in the way with too much of a current for him to drive through. not normal and not good. it'll have to wait til we dry out.

also, related to spring, I think I may have allergies. oh my.

hopefully later today I'll have my TUSAL post, just a few days late. :)

the view..

. . . out the back door of our apartment:
Here's another from a nicer day and the sidewalk alongside our building:
these things are 6feet tall and every other one is printed with 'spirit of fargo'. Somehow (I should have watched!) they held them upright and scooped huge loads of sand up in them. Lets hope they hold the river on the other side!

and the view from the inside of my apartment on a sunday night:
baby elvis. haha.
