something has gotten into me!
I found some an exercise I like. ...
I bet you haven't guessed by now.. it's yoga?
I learned about yoga when I stumbled upon Yoga by Candace on the youtubes and I have loved Candace ever since. So after following along with the tail end of her 30 day program for tight hips, my back and hips were feeling better than ever! (did I ever tell you I had chronic back pain? and had part of a bulging disc removed by surgery when I was 21?) I had been feeling some aches in the lower back area again, and this was the key to stretching and strengthening!
So anyways, getting a little more adventurous I decided to try a new adventure:
I just finished day 30, and I feel like I am ready for another challenge!

knit talk.
ah, so yea. remember how I like knitting?? maybe?
I do. But I'm sure you can imagine (or know from experience) that adjusting to the responsibilities of two littles really does a number on your hobby time. heh. and your sleep time. *yawn* (another post for another day)
annnyways! I did finally create something!!
A very rainbow-y and stripey cardigan. Still needs buttons, so I'll do my best to attach them and show the front here soon. before she outgrows it (hopefully). I would have liked it a tiny bit longer, but I knit every last inch of the rainbow yarn and it is juuuuust right - right now. I used KnitPicks (my fav.) Chroma yarn in the Mixtape Colorway (i believe) and used this pattern, with one modification - half the increases after splitting the sleeves off. I was really worried about running out of yarn, and thank goodness I did, the sweater might have been a few rows shorter yet!

| ah, here we go.. a WIP photo in daylight. |
So this weekend when I was trying to put off chores, I was scrounging my brain for what project I'd like to complete next... with whatever yarn I have at home so I wouldn't have to shop before starting... and I came up with nothing. Even though my Rav queue is umm... 4 pages long. huh. and then I started reading blogs this morning... and the KnitPicks Fair Isle Collection totally caught my eye. I want all of it. Buuuut I've never done fair isle.... so I guess no better time than the present to learn, right?? I'm probably not going to be doing a pattern from this collection, but I hope to have some colorwork to show soon :)
So i guess that may be my one and only resolution... knitting fair isle...
do you have any interesting new years resolutions??
Happy Monday!! (seems silly to say, but the sun is shining and I got in a bonus cup of coffee in today so it shall be! )
((((this post is *not* sponsored by knit picks..i just really enjoy their products for real))))

five on friday
hellooooooo , helloooooooooo (that's supposed to be my echo hah)
here's 5 things on my mind today, i'm sure everyone was waiting to know :P
1. Christmas is almost here and I am so unprepared... I am hoping to solve that this weekend though.
Tomorrow afternoon I have a mommy-friend-date to bring kids to see Santa :) I am excited. aaaaand afterwards she said she will watch my kids so we can shop for the kids' presents :) awesome. still can't believe I have plural kids now.
2. THIS is happening tonight. North Dakota State is in the semi-finals and we are going to friends' tomooch their cable watch the game and have pizza. If they win, they will be playing for their fourth consecutive national championship. pretty cool for such a small state.
3. Sicks went around our house again this week. awesome. Devin missed 2 days of Kindergarten and we sent him today, crossing our fingers the school would not be calling us to pick him up an hour later :/ they didn't. Then yesterday the baby puked (not spit) at daycare. Thank goodness it's the weekend, we need some rest & to recover!!
4. new specs. :)
Happy weekend friends!! and Merry Christmas if you don't hear from me again before then . . . . . .

pardon my BRF, i really am excited. i got them at JCP optical during the 50% off all frames sale (which might still be going on) with an additional 25% off coupon. amazing! my old lenses were extremely scratched, so this was overdue. the happiest part is they are pink on the insides.
5. the baby!!
she is completely charming and adorable (despite waking up at night still). and she sits in the bath now. which is actually the kitchen sink and so cute. plus it makes my life much easier, bye bye baby bathtub you big hunk of storage problems!
Happy weekend friends!! and Merry Christmas if you don't hear from me again before then . . . . . .

halloween
well, it's only been about 2 days weeks since halloween, so i'm not that late, right?
This is literally the only non-blurry pic i got of these two squirmers. Devin had fun Trick or treating with grandpa, while I supervised (drove the car) and Aubree loved snuggling with Grandma while we were out.
it was so nice that Halloween was on a friday night this year because we never really know where to trick or treat since we live in an apartment and have lots of (security) apartments around us, so we got to go to my parent's town and had fun going to all the houses!

steals.com mommy water giveaway
Just wanted to share for anyone who may be interested, Steals.com is giving away a 3 month supply of mommy water, which seems really cool - prenatal vitamins that (presumably) aren't nasty, that you add to your water like a crystal light! so smart! I want to win some!
Looks like the giveaway ends on Friday, so hurry!
Also, if you're not familiar with Steals.com - it is a daily deal site. I signed up for the daily email when it was just babysteals.com but now they have expanded to 4 deals per day - baby, kids, she, and scrapbook and have some pretty neat deals! I honestly have only ever bought one deal in the last 2 years but that is because I am extremely cheap, lol but they have lots of designer things for half off and such.

busy times.
I hate when i go so long without posts.
Life has slowed down a lot and we don't get much done most days, other than the basics.
I have only recently gotten my knitting needles back out for serious in the last couple weeks, since about this time last year when we found out i was pregnant i basically lost interest or didn't have the energy, it was a combination.
the results and proof of that:
We are kinda, sort of sleeping through the night now at 4 months old, and that makes most everything a little easier - not getting up for work in the dark, but the rest is less tiring with some decent rest.
Miss A was also baptized this month and wore a special gown & (slightly too large, but still freaking adorable) bonnet made by mom:
annnd besides that, life these days is mostly me driving across the city, going to work and picking up and dropping kids off at various places (school, daycare, my sister's house... not just random places but i should point out that the only two that are even a little close together are work & daycare,) also i don't like driving!!
anyways, now that I have two kids i'm learning to "let stuff go" and that life isn't a race - so if my house is messy all week i am no worse off than if it is clean all week and i won't win an award for that anyway so I'll get to it when i get to it (aka. on the weekend - maybe... probably)
sooo anyways, happy halloween weekend coming up! maybe i'll come back & share our (the kids, not me) costume pics next week :)

hello... a year later.
so uh. whats up blog?
just gotta show something off real quick that i'm super proud of:
just gotta show something off real quick that i'm super proud of:
so, yes, we are having a baby this summer. and it is a girl.
i got a hand-me-down high chair from devin's daycare and the padding part was kind of... yucky.
it would have worked fine but it also had a somewhat boyish design and i knew it could be better so this weekend I sewed up a new and improved pad! sooooo cute!!
i wanted a more girly pattern and also i wanted to include blue since the tray and another part at the bottom have that blue writing on it i didn't want that all to stand out too much. I love it so much, the cherry blossoms are my favorite!
also, i know there are no holes for the belts & buckles to go through. i plan to add that later, i wasn't given the straps so I have to find buckle parts and straps that will work with it, shouldn't be any big deal and i have at least 6-ish months until it will be needed anyway :)
i'm going to have a hard time sticking the highchair back in the closet until we need it, i just love looking at it so much now!

WIP Wednesday - KAL edition
We are finishing week one for the luvinthemommyhood's tops, tanks, & tees knit along! This is exciting stuff people!
I was about to sit this one out because of lack of stash & funds, but it didn't feel right because I love this KAL, so I was about to cast on a sweater from my queue in acrylic craft store yarn just for the fun of joining in even though I felt I would not be able to love a cute summer top knit from acrylic. I still find myself thinking that I am knitting for practice... 3 whole years after learning my first stitches. So I thought I would knit a top for practice just to be a part of the group.
I mentioned my idea (of just doing the acrylic) in the ravelry group and a very kind & generous soul offered to help me with the yarn. Now I have this beautiful wonderful summery purpley linen cotton blend that I am extremely anxious to knit with! (another huge thank you!!)
How amazing is that!?
the pattern:
I was torn between three patterns: Gemini, Work+Shelter, and Cap Sleeve Lattice Top. There are far too many cute summer tops patterns on Ravelry and to narrow it down to three was tough. I eventually came to the conclusion that work+shelter has been in my queue the longest without being cut so that will be the one! Here's how it should look in the end:
and here's how it looks now:
I know, it's not much but i only just got my yarn yesterday and rib it is kind of a pain. I am on the last row of rib before I start into the lace pattern and then stockinette, which should fly!
Happy knitting!

random hi!
Is this my 2nd blog post for April?
sorry bout that lil blog!
It's gonna be a quickie so I don't think it counts LOL
It's been a busy month, another spring worrying about the river coming into our yard, it's close but they say it's backing off now.
I got to bring my bubba to the circus a few weeks ago. He seemed to think it was lame, maybe next year I go alone HA!
And I may be back here tomorrow because I've joined luvinthemommyhood's Spring tops, tanks & tees knit-a-long.

FO Friday. . . . crochet edition
![]() |
| yes a slipper & train/train tracks in the background #reallife |
So anyways, Here's the interview. I love it! I want one of these too now!
It's a baby size blanket. I guess I don't know the dimensions but it matches up with Devin's baby blankets pretty well so it's basically a lap blanket & Devin has it in his room. I got these yarns for Christmas and it was 2 skeins of each color and all acrylic so I did what I thought was best for all of it. It's basically one big granny square and I love it, although by the end of working on it I was hating it LOL!
I also found a pic of a scarf I knit & gave away this fall :
I really loved this pattern and made myself a matching one in Malabrigo sock... I'll have to dig up the deets on that one and get a good photo because it is really pretty! 33>

a great week.

first. i took the day off from work last friday (for a dentist appointment in the morning and because i plainly wanted a day off). The dentist went better than I expected and it was a nice day out, so we brought Devin sledding at the snow hill and then we decided to go snowmobiling too!
Snowmobiling didn't turn out so well this time LOL funny story. We brought D to a drop-in daycare and headed out of town just about 15 miles. Pulled both sleds off the trailer, started the good one (robs haha) and then I went over to the truck to get my helmet and other gear on while Rob started my sled. Snowmobiles start the same way as a lawnmower, so Rob pulled the rope twice and pulled it right out! boooo, so it wouldn't start without the rope so we had to drag it right back up on the trailer (soooo heavy!) and go home. We actually went out to eat without Devin since he was already at the daycare and it was awesome even though Rob was super bummed about the sled, we never go anywhere without our boy!
saturday. Devin and me went to a film festival thing at the movie theater. the only thing i had read was that they were playing a family movie for $2at 10am. We went and the movie was Rise of the Guardians. I had no idea what that was, but both of us really liked it. Afterward we went for coffee and a smoothie at McD and then for a haircut for Devin. His haircuts are always super cute and he sat really well for the lady!
Sunday we stayed home and had a lazy day (which I love, especially when it's a 3-day weekend)
Monday, my boss said we could get a half-day off without using vacation this week, my day turned out to be Tuesday.. the next day. Also, I started a new knitting project, which I am loving so far!

| Pattern: Saroyan Yarn: knit picks stroll tonal |
Wednesday.. a regular day. But it was sunny so that helped! I also had time to go visit with one of my friends, I haven't had alot of friend time lately so this was awesome, we even got to play some Wii mario brothers together :)
Thursday, Devin had a Dr. appt for his 4-yr-check up in the late morning. I stayed home from work until afterward so I got to sleep in 2 hours! That was awesome and so was the appointment, the doctor was impressed with how smart he is and how well he was able to understand Devin and the way he puts his sentences together like a 'regular person' haha. Also he is totally on track for growth, 40 inches and 37 lbs, both height and weight were right on the line for average. He got a sticker and went home telling me that he thought the Dr. was funny :) so cute.
![]() |
| devin at the dr. the photo at the top is taken by D after I took this one of him. |
Another great thing about thursday was after supper, we went out to get some things (my list was lightbulbs, milk, shorts for devin for gymnasics) we got what all we needed and the lightbulbs! I have never been so happy about lightbulbs before, we have a ceiling fan in our dining room that I have never been able to buy the right lighbulbs for, so for about 2 years, NO LIGHTS in the dining room. Well, I finally pulled my head out of my butt and looked at the socket for a size. Then I researched that size on google before going out to buy it. It is not a common size bulb so that's why I've bought bulbs for this thing 5 seperate times and still not come up with the right size! Finally we have light! I can't even say how crazy it has made me that I couldn't find the right bulbs and it was dark in there this long!
Friday, I get off work at 2pm and it is a snow day. Winter is not giving up over here and I am ok with that for once because we do want to go snowmobiling a bit more before spring. I am loving the sun, doing ok with the snow, and not loving the cold wind, so I am conflicted LOL
Sorry for the novel but it really was a great week! Little things make me happy!

FO Friday : the hat I made
![]() |
| pattern: perception yarn: plymouth worsted merino |
Hat is a gift for a friend. Her fav color is green too.
The hat is also a bit snug on me for a slouch style hat.
i assume her head is smaller than mine but i have not measured to be sure.
most peoples' heads are smaller than mine LOL. (wonder where my son gets it from!)
this hat is sooo soft & i loved the pattern.
i changed the pattern just a bit at the beginning to use the tubular cast-on which I just learned and is really stretchy and works perfect with k1p1 rib.
that's all.
happy friday!

FOUR
Devin turned 4 last month! It's still sinking in and he reminds me every so often that he's 4 now LOL
We weren't going to plan a party for him, just do something (presumably dinner & cake) with his aunts, uncle, and grandparents on my side. We ended up going to a hotel to swim and it ended up being on a day I had agreed to watch my friend's son (one of devin's pals) for her company Christmas party (in feb LOL) so he had a friend along to swim with.
He has tons of Thomas trains now, and that same weekend we decided to spend his b-day money at toys r us and use up his birthday rewards from them. He got even more tracks for his Thomas stuff and a boat for the bath LOL.
boysss!
Plus he got to have dinner Space Aliens with mom & dad and play lots of games.
I think he likes being 4!
